The Waterbury Button Company was established to make uniform buttons for the U.S. military during the War of 1812. One hundred [100] years later, when the Titanic tragically sank, many of the uniform buttons worn by the officers and crew had also been made by "Waterbury Button ". In 1997, Waterbury Button was commissioned to create reproductions of the Titanic buttons for the movie as they were only original manufacturer found to still be in operation.. In 1998, while rearranging their archives, a production sample card was found with the original buttons from 1912. With these in hand, Waterbury Button was able to create the authentic replica pictured here. TheREPLICA is minted in solid brass and plated in premium quality, 24KT jewelry Gold. They come mounted with a pin back so that they can be used more readily. They come mounted on a crimson felt presentation card and the authenticity statement, as shown, is printed on the back.
